Congratulations on earning your Georgia real estate salesperson license! Your education doesn’t stop once you become licensed. Georgia law requires newly licensed salespersons to complete 25 hours of post-licensing education within their first year of licensure.

Post-licensing education is designed to help you build on what you learned during pre-licensing and apply that knowledge to real-world real estate transactions.

What You Need to Know

25 Hours Required
Newly licensed Georgia salespersons must successfully complete a 25-hour, GREC-approved post-licensing course within the required timeframe.

Complete It Within Your First Year
The course must generally be completed within one year of the issuance of your original salesperson license. Certain licensees may qualify for an extension under Georgia law.

GREC Approval Required
Your post-licensing course must be approved by the Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC).

How Post-Licensing Counts Toward Your First Renewal

Your 25-hour post-licensing course can also help you meet your first continuing education requirement.

9 hours of the 25-hour post-licensing course count toward the 36 hours of continuing education required for your first renewal.

After completing your post-licensing course, you will need an additional 27 hours of approved continuing education, including:

• 3 hoursof Georgia license law
• 24 hoursof elective continuing education

This means your first renewal requires a total of 36 hours of continuing education, with 9 hours satisfied by your post-licensing course.

Important: The 9 hours of continuing education credit associated with the post-licensing course will not be awarded if your license has lapsed.
